It's not too often many people use my PPTP server at the same time but recently they were and I was surprised to hear that one of the user excperienced connectivity issues when he was not alone throught the PPTP server.

Is there any particular *possible* reason for this - that I could check for - or was this just some random problem (which could be networking problems elsewhere too)? The FW is from time to time heavily loaded on CPU, mostly short spikes in RRD for CPU but still. Is there any reason to suspect that CPU load could make VPN clients disconnected etc?

Cheers,

Were both remote users connecting from the same location?

There are some limitations to PPTP on various routers, usually one of them is that you can't have multiple clients behind a single router going to the same server, and also sometimes (especially with pfSense) a client can't connect to PPTP remotely if the PPTP server on the router is enabled.

No they were not even in the same country actually.
I'll just try and keep an eye on this then.
There's not much troubleshooting info in log though, mostly when user gets in and out. But perhaps some more data is found in syslog logs? I use that too and can look in them if he continues to complain. I have found the PPTP server to be quite stable myself though when I've used it so it could be him having some issues locally. From what I hear not all locations in EU have the same stability and speed etc in their broadband networks as we have here.
