Whoops! Didn't know that pfsense doesn't support N. That does explain why I couldn't find it Smiley
A desktop is a possibility, but I was looking for a small all in one appliance (no moving parts and power consumption).

Thx for the reply!

I have a pfsense (old HP server) on the job, but would love to have one at home. Cant find a complete kit tough.
Requirements:
- serve a home network for 3 people ( only 2 to 3 concurrent devices)
- almost everything is connected through wifi
- proxy & dansguardian & firewall rules
- virusscanner
- powerfull (!) wifi N in the same enclosure
- max € 300

I took a look at netgate: no wifi N and with shipping to belgium to expensive.
I took a look at old firebox appliances: couldnt find one and no wifi
I took a look at the pfsense appliance  vendors page. Wifi seems a dealbreaker.

Anyone? Thx!

//edit
Assembly of the parts, is part of the fun. So doesn't need to be assembled kit.

thx! will check it out!
8  pfSense English Support / Packages / Dansguardian force safesearch on: October 03, 2012, 03:04:11 am
In squidguard you can chose to use "safesearch". Is there such an option in dansguardian? Can't find it.
Google doens't give me a clear answer, but some code from other forums.

Btw: Chosing between squidguard & dansguardian is like tomato/tomato? :-)

11  pfSense English Support / Packages / [Solved]Dansguardian installed but doens't filter on: September 30, 2012, 05:47:16 pm
I have an pfsense machine installed with squid (for throttling) & lightsquid & dansguardian.

But the last package ( dansguardian ) is up and running, but doens't filter the "adult" sites.  Actually, it doens't filter any site!
The naughtyness in the "default group" (under groups) is set to 50.
Enable dansguardian is checked :-)

I've read this topic: http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=47856.0

What did I miss?
12  pfSense English Support / General Questions / Re: Some (basic) questions on: June 28, 2012, 02:39:50 pm
We do not have a domain controller on the students network, so implementing this would be a huge hassle knowing that I only have 8 hours a week to maintain these pc's.
Anyway, thx allready!

maybe a additional question? Smiley
If a package states "beta", does that mean ot really isn't ready for a production server?
13  pfSense English Support / General Questions / Re: Some (basic) questions on: June 28, 2012, 09:03:29 am
It's in Belgium. Didn't you noticed it in my writing? :-)

Anyway, pfsense supports caching, so why not use it?

14  pfSense English Support / General Questions / Re: Some (basic) questions on: June 28, 2012, 08:28:45 am
The only sites we should block are porn related. Everything else is needed by teachers (youtube, social networking,...) for the lessons. In the past I used Smoothwall (& dansguardian) to block sites (porn, audio & video streaming,..). But teachers were complaining all the time they couldn't access websites...

Sheduled reboot would be a precautionary measure. Don't know if necessary.

To many questions in one topic? Do I need to split this up?

Thx!
