Gents,

Got a deadline problem that I need to fix and happy to pay anyone with a bit of time over the next week or two - PFsense is BRILLIANT but we need to plug in a Sierra Wireless 875U 3G modem as one of the failover options on the WAN side.  We will have Satellite (Ethernet DHCP), 3G (Sierra 875U) and network (ethernet) all in a failover configuration talking to one laptop on the LAN interface.  Failover needs to look for connectivity and switch accordingly.

Here's the bits to be delivered to get $1000US to your PayPal account on completion (and verified working). If it's delivered before Jan 14, we'll double the $1K to $2K!!! Delivered after Jan 14, and it'll be $1k...

1. Can be delivered as a download / CF image but must retain all PFsense "full install" functionality.
2. It will be deployed to : http://www.mini-box.com/Mini-Box-M200-LCD (on CF - This is tested and works)
3. The Sierra Wireless driver seems to be included and working on PFSense to a point (sees the card and fires up when plugged in) - we are using the Sierra 875U card
http://www.sierrawireless.com/faq/ShowFAQ.aspx?ID=607
(We need to be able to configure the APN / 3G Card settings / failover options in the webGUI - So this is required in the PHP interface).  The 3G interface must show up as a WAN port to allow allocation to failover pools.
4. We would like something useful on the MiniBox PicoLCD (Linux driver here:
http://www.mini-box.com/picoLCD-20x2-OEM?sc=8&category=490
LCDPro is the suggested way to fix this: http://www.lcdproc.org/
ie Details here: http://lcdproc.sourceforge.net/docs/stable-0-5-x-user.html#picolcd

The critical thing is getting PPP working and configuration sorted out in the GUI.  Should be a long days work for a PFSense guru! Smiley

Happy New Year all!!

Cheers
Andy

Guys,

The LCD stuff is a 'bonus' and doesn't need to be touched by Jan 10th - the key thing we need working is the PPP interface working as a WAN port in failover - That's it.. Not rocket science.  The date is slightly flexible as well (but not by much!). That's a target for a first cut.

Looking forward to a reply!!

Cheers

Not trying to dismiss your bounty, but one cannot just simply build a GUI for this and expect it to work. Whoever works on this will need the respective hardware to test these changes out. Just a tip, you might get more of a response if you can provide the appropriate equipment for testing. Smiley

Good call, SDALE... Agreed.  The PPP side of things will need a Sierra device to test.. Happy to provide!

So.. ! In addition to the bounty!! Free Sierra 875U modem (you can keep it!).. to the person who takes this one up (and makes it work).  You'll need to drop in your own SIM card of course - but the modem will be yours to keep.

(The LCD option we'll have to play by ear beyond just installing PicoLCD as this will be expensive to ship from Sydney - It's also not urgent).

Any takers yet?!

Gents,

$1K hasn't got anyone's attention so I'm doubling it to $2K if the solution is delivered by Jan 14.  (Reverts to $1k after Jan 14)

Hope this now has someone's attention!!

Garret - When can you start on this one?

We're running out of time.

Garret has our support to complete this bounty, and accessibility for questions as needed. We were working on this ourselves, but have hit a few dead ends and don't have time to complete this within the required time frame.

I can act as an escrow for this bounty via PayPal if that is desirable to both parties, for just the cost of the PayPal transaction.

Thanks CMB / Garret.  Let me know the what / when / how.  Will forward a modem as soon as you're ready.  In the interim (while we await freight), any PPP connection will most likely be a good starting point for testing.

Garret,

How's it all going? Checking to see you received the modem?

Drop me an email to let me know how it's looking!
