Has anyone else seen the captive portal take ~40 seconds to redirect a client to the splash page, and then another ~25 seconds to direct them to the intended site after they've logged in?  Name resolution is happening immediately, but it's taking for-honkin-ever to display the splash and then allow the intended site when logging in.  This particular box is setup for just a simple "accept" button for unauthenticated access.

Given my authenticated boxes login faster than this, I'm wondering of something on the unauth side of the CP is running code it shouldn't be running?  Any way I could debug or run some tests for someone, or does anyone even care?

I see this all the time too. I've no idea what the cause is - I thought it was because I was running on a wrap and it was struggling or that I'd got something misconfiggled. Are you running on a PC or embedded platform?

I'm running on a WRAP...a 128MB one, so don't even start that argument.   Grin

Once the splash page has started to be downloaded, it loads very quickly...it's just that it takes forever to start.

Ok then - did you spill my pint?  Tongue

Sounds exactly like what I get (although my captive portal page is pretty pretty Smiley ) ... I'm using a wireless connection. Are you wired or wireless? I'm interested in tracking down the issue too, although I don't find it that painful since I've removed the hard timeout and just got an idle timeout. This just means I have to login every so often, rather than the default 60 mins.

I'm wireless, but I've tried wired as well with the same results.

I'm running the latest version on a PC and I get the same problem.  Very slow captive portal.  I'm wanting to switch to PFsense from m0n0wall to use the PPPoE, but I still need the captive portal for my bill payment screens.
