Snort does not start on a PPPoE Interface.

Snort will not start on a pppoe interface and dies with the following error:

FATAL ERROR: Invalid pidfile suffix: 62937pppoe0. Suffix must less than 11 characters and not have ".." or "/" in the name.

hello,

yes indeed. this seems to be a specific to 2.0 build since April or so, I'm remembering that some March builds did not have this issue but not sure which it was. although looking through the forum, some ppl runs snort fine on the latest 2.0 build but how?
