CARP with Bogus or Private IPs

Hello,
Is it possible to use a bogus or private IP for interfaces on master and slave with a 'real' CARP virtual IP?
This is primarily required to save valuable IPv4 addresses. I'd prefer not to use 3 real IPs just for one virtual IP.
I've tested pFsense RC 2.0 and have found that this is not yet possible. Any chance that this will be changed?

CARP IPs must be within the subnet of the interface's IP. That's not going to change in the near future.
