I just put the finishing touches on the brand new spamd package.

In order to run this package you will need a image from atleast today for the new package manager features which allow us to debug 100* easier.    Download a new update from http://www.pfsense.com/~sullrich/1.0-BETA1-TESTING-SNAPSHOT-1-29-06/ then install SpamD from the menu.

Once installed visit Services -> SpamD

Screenshots of my install:

I just fixed a pretty major bug in the spam sources.    Visit installed packages and click on the xml icon to resync the web gui.

This is AWESOME!!!  Cheesy

Now if we could add the ClamAV engine to scan incoming files on smtp (to start with) this would be _the one_ OS firewall!!

I installed spamd but did not set anything up in it.  Not really sure what to do actually.  I then looked in the database and it was actually catching mail.  I am running MailScanner w/ mailwatch on my mail server and did not see the mail not white listed on spamd come through.  I tried turning the service off but that did not work (it said it did but icon did not change from green to red (if it is suppose to do that).   Installed spamd version is 4.2.  I'm running snapshot from 2-2-2006.  I guess my questions are should I be able to stop the service with out uninstalling spamd and are there any instruction on how to run spamd?

thanks,
Jim

You can stop it in the service status screen.

I have included full screens shots of every screen.  Did you take a look at them?

Sorry, I have not looked at the screen shots.  Where do I go to look?  I tried stopping it and it returned a message saying it stopped but I don't think it really did.

Okay, I set mine up similar to your pics.  Why are there four buttons in your database and mine only has blacklist and spamtrap?

thanks,

You need to update to a recent snapshot to receive the buttons:

There are some new images that were invented for spamd. They are only included in the latest snapshot.

I updated to the latest snapshot but I still have only two icons and then two text stating blacklist spamtrap.  Is 4.2 the latest spamd or do I need to update that as well?

thanks,
Jim
