Feedback / A+ for new Traffic Graph
« on: June 30, 2017, 02:14:14 am »
 :)

I really like the new Traffic Graph...  just wanted to say that.  It looks and works great.

2
is there a way to provide the RRD graph for quality on the dashboard like we are able to do traffic graphs?

3
the host was not setup to use anything.. which is a problem, but also I have no clue where it's getting the a1.pcloud.com.  Does pfsense use it's own NTP settings?

[EDIT]

actually, in this situation i have to laugh at myself cause it was obviously getting the time for the VM from the host machine... well, that is when it was configured to sync it.

hey johnpoz,

I'm in CST, here:

In hyper-v integration services, if "time synchronization" is enabled for the VM, I guess you get the error noted in my post.

after disabling it, i was able to change the time without an issue.

well.. it appears that since this is running in a VM, the system time is forced down from Hyper-V some how... the host had the wrong time settings (and was not configured to use an NTP server)... so ya, that was my bad.

6
I've tried using just the webgui to execute the date command, and also using SSH under root and get the same message.

in SSH, it says setting local time... however, the system time does not change.

time zone is configured correctly...  NTP would "appear" to be right; however, the time is consistantly 15 minutes off....  :(

any ideas?

Packages / Re: NTOP Problem ?
« on: July 11, 2014, 12:50:32 am »

Ahh you had me hopeful :)    I tried this on my system and I still have the same issue as before (spinning flower with no info).

I am glad you were able to get a fix for your issue.

ya, i'm not sure this was a silver bullet...  there are a couple other changes I've made that could have also contributed.

I enabled use W3C (yes) under display prefs, and also noticed that after adding a few lists in pfblocker, that my memore utilization was around 75%, so I reduced squid memory cache size to 3MB.  Those probably have absolutely no coincidental relation, but who knows.

well.. not sure this is a fix  or not, but i currently (for the time) have this dril-down working.

I switched from using HTTP to HTTPS via ntop > admin > configure > startup options > [basic prefs]    and changed -w (HTTP) to 0 (zero) and HTTPS server to a port of my choosing.  restarted ntop and now I am able to drill-down:

IP > traffic directions > local to remote    and select a host IP to get detailed info.

I don't understand why, but seems the built-in webservices is having some kind of buffer issue for HTTP services since latest updates.. perhaps related/unrelated to the OpenSSL sercurity changes.. no idea.

I had to go here to get the full details:

http://wiki.squid-cache.org/SquidFaq/WindowsUpdate

not 100% it is actually working as intended with those recommendations as lightsquid logs are not totally clear as to whom is getting a hit on the cache for updates... so ya.  maybe that will help you some.

I too am still having some major problems with ntop and latest pfsense...

ntop[51381]: EPIPE while sending page to web client
ntop[15131]: **ERROR** Buffer too short @ report.c:3905 (increase to at least 1070) [<TR onMouseOver="this.bgColor = '#EDF3FE'" onMouseOut ="this.bgColor = '#FFFFFF'" ><th align="left" nowrap width="250"> <a title="Linux Debian" class=tooltip href="/23.197.146.70.html" ><IMG width=16 height=16 SRC="http://www.google.com/s2/favicons?domain=a23-...amaitechnologies.com" BORDER=0>a23-...amaitechnologies.com <img class=tooltip alt="OS: Linux" title="OS: Linux" align="middle" src="/statsicons/os/linux.gif">&nbsp;<img class=tooltip src="/web.gif" border="0" alt="HTTP Server" title="HTTP Server"> <A class=external href="#" title="Physical Host Location" onclick="window.open('http://www.geoiptool.com/en/?host=a23-197-146-70.deploy.static.akamaitechnologies.com&IP=23.197.146.70', 'Host Map', 'height=530, width=750,toolbar=nodirectories=no,status=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=no,resizable=no'); return false;"><IMG SRC=/marker.png border=0> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</th> <TD ALIGN=RIGHT>23.197.146.70<

no clue how to fix this, tried to find something in the docs and google... no luck at all.

no, i'm running it on a HP G7 N54L..

took close to 25 minutes to update, but it finished.. few packages are working, but i read the notes so... i guess i got some re-installs to do.

12
I just attempted the update and after 20 minutes it is still spinning its' wheels on "an upgrade is currently in progress"....  not a good sign.

ok... it finally finished.. wooh, had me worried.

well.. i've just spent a while trying to understand what could be the issue on this one and am not finding any solution.  finally my logs seem to only show the following message:

ntop[8154]: EPIPE while sending page to web client

and that was it.

so, since there is apparently no way to revert to a previous build, i guess i'll have to just run without ntop.. which stinks as I really liked the tool.

 :(

I tried using the file browser built into pfsense, but it doesn't allow selection/deletion of files and directories it seems.

use PuTTY, it's a simple SSH tool and gives you full command line access.

http://www.putty.org/

here's a list of FreeBSD commands incase you need it too:

Packages / ntop error
« on: June 20, 2014, 02:35:36 pm »
versions:  pfsense(2.1.3-RELEASE (amd64) ), ntop (BETA 5.0.1 v2.5 platform: 2.0 )

I updated yesterday to 2.1.3, ,and also updated ntop (removed previous package and upgraded to this version)... while ntop overall feels more "snappy", I now am faced with this problem when I drill down into traffic (e.g.:  local to remote ) and select a client.

ntop[37803]: **ERROR** Buffer too short @ report.c:3905 (increase to at least 1037) [<TR onMouseOver="this.bgColor = '#EDF3FE'" onMouseOut ="this.bgColor = '#FFFFFF'" ><th align="left" nowrap width="250"> <a title="Windows 2000" class=tooltip href="/157.56.96.208.html" ><IMG width=16 height=16 SRC="http://www.google.com/s2/favicons?domain=client.wns.windows.com" BORDER=0>client.wns.windows.com <img class=tooltip alt="OS: Windows" title="OS: Windows" align="middle" src="/statsicons/os/windows.gif">&nbsp;<img class=tooltip src="/web.gif" border="0" alt="HTTP Server" title="HTTP Server"> <A class=external href="#" title="Physical Host Location" onclick="window.open('http://www.geoiptool.com/en/?host=client.wns.windows.com&IP=157.56.96.208', 'Host Map', 'height=530, width=750,toolbar=nodirectories=no,status=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=no,resizable=no'); return false;"><IMG SRC=/marker.png border=0> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</th> <TD ALIGN=RIGHT>157.56.96.208</TD></TD><TD ALIGN=RIGHT>4.9&nbs

Is there a particular preference setting I need to adjust in ntop to increase this buffer?
