General Questions / Re: Can't access PFsense or the Net
« on: March 08, 2018, 07:26:54 am »
Has it ever worked?

if you plug two laptops into the switch with static ip's can you ping one another?

Is there any non default config on the switch? Vlan's, port security?

I have a similar setup by where my vdsl modem is in the house and in the garden man cave the server running hyper v had pfsense and several other windows server vm's running, with two managed switches in-between.

Modem==                            /
               house               Cabin
               Switch======Switch======Server (Hyper V, Pfsense, Windows VMguests).
Lan====             Trunk               Trunk
                                                  to the server NIC

Now the trick is the configure the windows server host to accept tagged packets.

This can only be achieved through powershell and should be run on the hyper V host, to query the nic run
Code: [Select]
Then the command I ran for my network was
Code: [Select]
Get-VMNetworkAdapter -VMName "PFSense" | Where-Object -Property MacAddress -eq "00155d0061f" | Set-VMNetworkAdapterVlan -Trunk -AllowedVlanIdList "1-10" -NativeVlanId 99
Hope this helps.

Any more help let me know.

The laptop will connect when it's on the lan and the ras server lan ip is used, this is what leads me to believe it's PFsense.

I'm bumping this as the issue is still outstanding.

I am trying to setup a L2TP VPN connection and phase out the PPTP VPN.
I have setup the rules as documented (See attachment)

I can connect with both IOS and Windows 10 from inside the lan using the RAS servers lan ip for testing
however from the WAN the IOS can connect but the windows 10 laptop cannot.

Any Ideas or do you need more information?

Ok thanks I'll give it a shot, my motherboard had to be RMA'd so won't be able to try it for a week!

I new to pfSense and have been looking for a setup guide to configure it to it with my internet connection.
I have FTTC with fuel ISP, it's connected to a openreach VDSL modem.

I have a dual NIC server so one port going straight into the modem, but can someone help me with a setup guide to getting it working.

Thanks in advance.
