2.4 Development Snapshots / Re: Disk Usage Space Error
« on: December 13, 2017, 10:56:39 am »
I am running CRON with backup job, the first backup creation was with different name for testing purposes, I have deleted it manually, it was 584 999 647 bytes
Now every next created file have 1 166 967 383 bytes
Code: [Select]
zfs snapshot -r zroot@weekbckp && zfs send -R zroot@weekbckp | gzip > /root/backup/weekbckp.gz && zfs destroy -r zroot@weekbckp && curl --upload-file /root/backup/weekbckp.gz ftp://pf@xxx.0.77.3:21 && rm /root/backup/weekbckp.gz
I am reading https://github.com/zfsonlinux/zfs/issues/1548 now and already tried to analyze what is wrong, yes I know it's Linux thread, but I found it useful. Currently I have found some dataset with big size that looks similar to the first deleted backup
Code: [Select]
54975    3   128K   128K  1.09G   558M  100.00  ZFS plain filezdb -dddd zroot 54975 gives me

Code: [Select]
zdb: dmu_bonus_hold(54975) failed, errno 2
Dataset mos [META], ID 0, cr_txg 4, 2.99M, 155 objects, rootbp DVA[0]=<0:7118e8000:1000> DVA[1]=<0:f7092e000:1000> DVA[2]=<0:16e7ec9000:1000> [L0 DMU objset] fletcher4 uncompressed LE contiguous unique triple size=800L/800P birth=7136517L/7136517P fill=155 cksum=3307f4529:5df223ded43:56adae5ed9ec9:3570dfb8db59168

    Object  lvl   iblk   dblk  dsize  lsize   %full  type

Googling and reading this https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/undeletable-file-in-zfs-volume.11276/ made me think that it's how it was deleted. I don't remember but I think I was running rm via GUI command line.
I am not sure what to do now, but I'll try to re-mount zroot later.

DAP-1353 a1 sets PVID automatically to 1 as I understand their some old FAQ for some similar models. They suggest to use VLAN1 as management untagged VLAN, but any other you create should be tagged. Anyway I also think that it's better to buy something better than that old DLINK AP that have VLAN feature just for marketing purpose  ;D it does not have to work properly in this case.

3
Irios, you did not provided your full VLAN configuration on AP side, but I think you need at least check PVID Setting  for dap-1353, it should be set manually (look at http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Wireless/DAP-1353/Description/DAP-1353_B1_Manual_3.00.pdf PVID setting) and the traffic must be tagged on Cisco.

Traffic Shaping / Re: playing with fq_codel in 2.4
« on: December 04, 2017, 10:52:50 pm »
I also have a question for everyone following this thread:

The command to enable fq_codel that has been shown in this thread to be:
Code: [Select]
ipfw sched 1 config pipe 1 type fq_codel && ipfw sched 2 config pipe 2 type fq_codel

However, looking at the examples in 3.3 here:
http://caia.swin.edu.au/freebsd/aqm/patches/README-0.2.1.txt

Doesn't the command have to be appended to include setting the the scheduler on the queue, i.e.:

Code: [Select]
ipfw sched 1 config pipe 1 type fq_codel && ipfw queue 1 config sched 1 && ipfw sched 2 config pipe 2 type fq_codel ipfw queue 2 config sched 2

The above assumes only two queues, one under each limiter.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I have used second, official variant, but have also found that first variant also works just fine if you have already configured limiters via GUI.

AFAIK the NIST guideline sounded like
"Drop the algorithmic complexity song and dance
No more arbitrary password complexity requirements needing mixtures of upper case letters, symbols and numbers. Like frequent password changes, its been shown repeatedly that these types of restrictions often result in worse passwords."
Yes it was about that you can not require a complex password with short length over much more longer password but without any complexity. The length is limited by freeDNS and I am sure in case of limited length complexity always wins  ;)

Packages / Re: NUT package
« on: December 01, 2017, 11:24:59 pm »
So does the latest beta 2.4.3 have these PR's?

krpan
I think you need to go deeper :)
Search this page for pkg-static and follow links ;)
But in your case it should be more faster just to install new VM with fresh 2.4.2 and restore configuration on it.

General Questions / Re: Can someone please help me set up PPPoE over WAN?
« on: December 01, 2017, 10:20:43 am »
We need more information to make some conclusions.
I think you need to configure two interfaces the one you have already configured (WAN DHCP) and next you should go to     Interfaces>Interface Assignments and then to PPPs tab, add new PPPoE, select same physical interface you have used on WAN and configure all you have there with information provided by ISP, save, go back to Interface Assignments tab, select your newly created PPPoE in drop-down menu and add new interface, name it whatever you want and go to     Interfaces->"younewlycreatedinterfacename", enable it and then check if it is working already and IP already received, if it does not, then you need really "hack" mpd config. :(
If it's not acceptable for you then you need to create feature request for PPPoE IP configuration via GUI.  ::)

Installation and Upgrades / Re: 2.3.5 will not upgrade to 2.4 no errors.
« on: November 29, 2017, 01:09:31 pm »
I don't think it's related to platform. Look at https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=140566.0 same log but see the last line.

Looks like known issue for FreeBSD https://wiki.freebsd.org/PkgBase

When creating new certificate and using method freedns and entering as a password "O?A OuU$?Uy~oe" I am getting an error
Code: [Select]
"
pfSenseConfigurator

    pfSense is restoring the configuration /cf/conf/backup/config-1511681170.xml @ 2017-11-26 09:26:47

"
The other thing is that password should be hidden and it's not.

There is always a lot of issues between upgrades, but that does not mean you will be affected, there was a bunch of issues in between 2.2 and 2.3 upgrades, for example, even more then now. Too much different hardware and software configurations. In case you don't use some well known packages that can cause problems, than there is very small probability that something will go wrong, but it's up to you what to do now.

13
Then you can try https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=135582.msg742380#msg742380 and https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=128732.msg711131#msg711131 (addition about pkg-static).
Please be ready for full reinstall, backup your config and prepare installation media or at least download the latest image https://www.pfsense.org/download/ and some old 2.3 too if it completely refuses to install the latest https://atxfiles.pfsense.org/mirror/downloads/old/

14
Go to     System>Update>Update Settings
Make sure you have selected branch "Latest stable version 2.4.x" or whatever it shows for you, also if it is already selected try to change it to something else, check for updates and then change it back and again check for updates, if it does not help then check for /usr/local/etc/pkg/repos
there are two files
freeBSD.conf
Code: [Select]
FreeBSD: { enabled: no  }and
pfSense.conf
Code: [Select]
FreeBSD: { enabled: no }

pfSense-core: {
  url: "pkg+https://pkg.pfsense.org/pfSense_v2_4_2_amd64-core",
  mirror_type: "srv",
  signature_type: "fingerprints",
  fingerprints: "/usr/local/share/pfSense/keys/pkg",
  enabled: yes
}

pfSense: {
  url: "pkg+https://pkg.pfsense.org/pfSense_v2_4_2_amd64-pfSense_v2_4_2",
  mirror_type: "srv",
  signature_type: "fingerprints",
  fingerprints: "/usr/local/share/pfSense/keys/pkg",
  enabled: yes
}

Plese note that current URL that is "pkg+https://pkg.pfsense.org/pfSense_v2_4_2_amd64-core" can be something different for you, if after first step it is not the same then post it here.

Are you sure you did not messed up things by changing something in repo config?
