Implementing custom notifications
« on: February 23, 2018, 07:31:41 am »

I want to be able to receive a notification on the connection of a client to OpenVPN.

I am happy to develop this myself but looking for advice here for an approach.

I could write a package that does the monitoring, polling for new clients connecting (unless there is some event fired?) and then sending the notification with either the system file_notice() or something new (for example a custom events consumer, that uses other mediums such as push notifications).

  • Does an event get fired when clients connect to OpenVPN?
  • Do I need to write a pfsense port/package to achieve this?

Many thanks,
