DNS Servers?
« on: January 11, 2010, 10:38:17 am »
We have satellite Internet...

Our ping is very high. I have squid running, and that's supposed to cache dns but sometimes I think that we might have a problem with the DNS servers that we are using. I'm using the Hughes DNS servers. I'm wondering if maybe openDNS might be faster... or if maybe I can use tinyDNS and make my own DNS server??

I know that ping is high because of the satellite internet. However, there's got to be some things I can do with dns to make it at least a little better.

Thanks in advance,
~Shawn

try other dns servers would my first guess, but check your ping to those dns servers first, may be just as high
