How to set up a local DNS cache server?

(1/1)

zlyzwy:
Hi,

I am using Pf 2.0 RC3 for my home network and it works great as a gateway..... :)

And I would like to do some more on Pfsense,I found there is a TinyDNS package so I am thinking to set up a DNS cache server.

But I can't find any reference about this....

Can anyone give me some hints on this?

Thanks for any reply in advance~

pfSense comes with a DNS cache by default - dnsmasq - it's under Services > DNS Forwarder. It's enabled by default, and can be used by pointing your LAN systems to the firewall's IP for their DNS server (which is the default behavior for DHCP).

No need to install anything else to get that functionality.
