LOADER PANIC: pmap_init: Not enough kvm for pv chunks
« on: June 26, 2012, 08:49:08 pm »
Hello.
My PfSense box started spamming "Approaching the limit on PV entries, consider increasing either the
vm.pmap.shpgperproc or the vm.pmap.pv_entry_max tunable" and then it paniced.

See more here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMvnGDYgMig
at about 0:50 it panics.

Uploaded the following file into /boot:

Filename: loader.conf.local
<<<
kern.maxproc="20000"
vm.pmap.shpgperproc="8192"
vm.pmap.pv_entry_max="8192"
vm.pmap_pg_ps_enabled="1"

Now at bootup, I get:
panic: pmap_init: Not enough kvm for pv chunks
and a db> prompt.

whats the problem?
