General Questions / Re: pfSense as netflow exporter only
« on: January 10, 2016, 11:41:37 am »
Softflowd does not send netflow v5 or v9 that NTA will understand.
This is because in all netflow packages, both Interface Indexes = 0 in exported flows:

By forcing the traffic to be shown as you probably have done in NTA, you are only seeing what the NTA can decipher from SNMP data.
Unfortunately, doing so excludes all traffic not originating from the router and multicast, as you have seen.

NTA is extremely picky about netflow.
The only netflow that I have been able to get working reliably with NTA on pfsense is Pfflowd.
Unfortunately, on recent PfSense versions, this no longer works:

Routing and Multi WAN / Re: MLPPP not working!
« on: October 06, 2014, 10:55:56 am »
Though I do not have a solution, I thought it might be helpful to know that I have tried and failed to get mlppp working over vigor 120 modems.
My ISP's tech thought it was due to the pppoe - pppoa bridging.

If you are interested in what I tried, there was a thread about it here

2.2 Snapshot Feedback and Problems - RETIRED / Re: PPPoE issue?
« on: October 06, 2014, 07:02:51 am »
There was a post about Draytek firmware being buggy, I'll try a different version and see.
What you are trying to do can be done, as we use a similar setup using two Draytek Vigor 120 modems.
The modems do pppoa to pppoe conversion. Pfsense load balances between the two dsl lines.
Both modems are running the stock firmware, or to clarify: I have never updated the firmware on either modem.

Pfsense version is an old 2.2 snap:
2.2-ALPHA (amd64)
built on Wed Sep 11 18:17:37 EDT 2013
FreeBSD 8.3-RELEASE-p11
(But I will not upgrade till 2.2 release, because angry mob with pitchforks should something go wrong again)

If there is something I can look up for you to help, let me know.

Thats a good tip Robi, thanks! Maybe worth adding to the esxi section on the wiki?

Routing and Multi WAN / Re: MultiWAN Link Aggregation
« on: February 02, 2014, 05:39:46 am »
After looking at the attached document, I believe that his implementation is similar to ML-PPP but without the ISP having to do anything. How he accomplishes that is way beyond my technical understanding. It sounds like magic though, and I am always wary of things that seem to good to be true.

Packages / Re: Snort pkg. v3.0.0 -- Update Released
« on: December 15, 2013, 12:45:36 pm »
I am working on my next pfSense package.  I have a very early Beta of Suricata working in IDS mode at the moment.
This would be an amazing addition.

This may or not consume all my time, I'll see what can be done, as I said, I'm tired, this is a great effort for me, I admire the pfSense team for their work..
As a fellow user, I can say that I admire your work. Thanks for the effort you are putting into your vision of a next gen web interface for pfsense.

Good afternoon, I've made some changes on metrolab theme, now it's showing alerts in bell icon as shown in screenshot below.
Looks really nice, I look forward to using your theme sometime soon!

jdijulio raises a good point. We use ova's to make deployment easy. I too am curious about the status of the ova installs.
If pfsense will no longer be built in ova format going forward, that would be a slight inconvenience but nothing serious.

@JeGr you only have to look at the modified dates; everything modified yesterday (mostly in /usr/www) is related to the new theme.

Hey guys, i'd like to know if someone tested this new interface, I've added the slide menu  effect right now.
yesterday I tried to get it working but I found it hard to see what files needed to be replaced. Might give it a shot again next week because it sure looks great in your screenshots.

Hi @charlie0440, I've done some changes on your theme, take a look,67167.0.html
Looks really interesting!

We use splunk, which does a great job. We run it as a vm on a esxi machine.

This might be something manual outbound nat can solve. Have your tried using this?
