What are you trying to achieve with this setup?
I am asking because i don't understand why you bridged Wifi with LAN.

Wireless / Recommended Wifi Card
« on: April 21, 2017, 05:29:27 am »
Hi Guys,
I did check the list of supported cards for hostap and i already have 2 pfsense boxes running captive portal on WLAN, but now i am in a bit of a pickle.
I recently configured 1 more Wireless SSID using the same wifi card (Atheros) and although it works, it seems to fail and get stuck if more than 5 clients connect to it. This new ssid has captive portal enabled with AD radius authentication.

Can anyone recomment me a better wifi card that supports more than 5 connections and more than just 1 SSID? Eventually a link to buy it from (UK).

I keep getting these errors in logs:
Apr 20 18:17:49   kernel      ath0: stuck beacon; resetting (bmiss count 0)

I looked up on the forum and found a topic where a guy recommended adding this in System Tunables:
hw.ath.bstuck   Wireless   12

Once added that change, worked fine for some time, and then it started again to show the error in logs.
Apr 20 18:17:49   kernel      ath0: stuck beacon; resetting (bmiss count 12)

If you think the issue is not with the wifi card, please let me know what information i would need to provide to find out why i keep getting these issues:

Hardware used on the pfsense box is:
Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 1037U @ 1.80GHz
2 CPUs: 1 package(s) x 2 core(s)

The auto-redirect in captive portal doesn't work if the default page that the browser tries to open is a https one.

I have this implemented in my network.
You will have WAN connected in your internal network and will have the same settings as any other pc in your network (DHCP or static).
Assign Wireless card to WLAN Interface (name it WLAN) & Configure WLAN Interface.
Create Captive portal for that interface.
Stop DNS Server and start DNS Forwarder.
Configure DHCP Server for WLAN Interface.
Connect device on wireless from Pfsense and see if the redirect works when trying to access a webpage.
