Hi all,

Apologies if this is the wrong section to post but seemed like the best area to post this question/idea?

I was wondering if it would be a nice idea if pfsense members could showcase their setups of pfsense?  eg: I manage a network of 200 users, types of clients behind firewall,  I have 1 pfsense installation, I have installed. pfblocker, open vpn, have 1 exchange server etc etc.  So the forum category could be split into 2 sub categories, 1 hardware (this is the kit I use - pics are always nice  ;D) the other Software (this is how is setup my installation).

Am thinking this would give other members the oportunity to see how "working" setups have been implemented.  So for instance the 1st thread poster could provide a network diagram, reason for choosing Squid over Squid 3, info on how they configured their pfsense and packages to meet thier various requirements, problems they encountered.

Basically a breakdown on what and how they are protecting/managing their firewall (or whatever) capabilites.

So this method could possibly give other members a template to work from in installing or configuring their own setup.

Naturally it shouldn't be a forum to replace any of the others eg: I followed what you did but and using a different network card and get different results, so what's up? -- that should go to the hardware forum.

The reason I ask this (am not ashamed to admit it) I see many posts on how people will use certain packages to achieve a goal and other may use something different to achieve the same goal.....it all can get a little confusing  :P I guess some of us (and including me) are not that confident in delving to deep into the command line to change a setting or functionality and are more or less happy just copying someone elses setup.

This could maybe reduce multiple similar posts in other categories?

I know it's a big ask but just thought I'd throw it out there.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and maybe considering it.

Cheers

There have been a few such threads in the "General Discussion" board here, feel free to start a new one. Things change from time to time so people will probably chime in and show off what they've done.

The General Discussion board isn't so high-volume that we'd need to filter things like that out yet, so having a separate board wouldn't be a good idea (unless we start getting dozens and dozens of threads there about the same topic :-)
