Get some working hardware, perhaps. Hardly a pfSense issue when it installs once you've replaced the HDD.

Yeah, so you have two übercappy 500 GB ones plus one crappy 1 TB. Now, go and get a known good, working HDD. Not garbage from dump yard.

So are you upgrading from 2.1.5? Fresh install? What other hardware are you running?

These same 500GB drives were previously working with pfSense?

2.2 fresh install ..  Gigabyte GA-C847N

the hds 500 are the same model, and not have any bad block them.

The HD 1TB is also the samsung, is to install normally, however the HD 1TB is old and is full of bad blocks ...

when I go to install with 500 gb hard drives at the time of formatting I get the error ...
already with the HD 1Tb of the installation normally happens ..

I walked in researching and pfSense bsd forums and read some reports for counting the cylinders .. but I knew not for sure ..

I will buy another HD, however that would not happen to him: /

PS: I installed ubuntu, windows to test the hard drives of 500 GB and the installation took place normally.

Try low level formatting the HD, it may have some existing partition tables on there that are causing trouble.

Try installing 2.1.5 and upgrading to 2.2.

I have the same problem with 2.3.4

#1 installation

HP microserver N40L with 1 HDD 500GB = prefect

#2 new installation, adding a second HDD 500GB for RAID 1 (hardware) = same message

#3 installation, return to 1 HDD = same message !

Works perfectly under windows 10 with RAID and same HDD
i have try low level format, no change

I dont understand ...

What exact error are you seeing? The two threads you posted in have slightly different messages listed.

What harddrives are you using? What raid controller?
